給食業者の業務停止が
各地で問題になっています。
子が学校にいく年齢になると
給食の存在がありがたい。。。
食べる子ども側には、
多少なりとも不満が
あるかもしれませんが、
給食のありがたみは、
大人になると実感する
ことの一つなのでしょう。
今回は電気通信大学
2023年度入試で出題された
お題で書いてみます。
問題文は以下の通り。
In some countries,
all students in elementary
and secondary schools
receive free lunch on
school days. In your
opinion, should the Japanese
government provide free
lunch for all students in
Japanese public elementary
and secondary school?
「日本の小中学校の
給食は無料にすべきか
どうか」
・・・給食はありがたいですが、
ここは無料化に反対で
書いてみたいと思います！
電気通信大学の指示には
「少なくとも二つの
理由を挙げて」とあります。
理由①
給食は、自分たちの生活が
社会のなかでどうやって
運営されているかを知る
よい機会だ。給食には
多くの人がかかわっている。
その人たちの仕事を
評価し感謝するため、
そのお金を払うことは
おかしいことではない。
理由②
子どもたちの考え方に
よい影響を与えない可能性がある。
子どもに関するものは
すべて無料であるべき
といった考えを支えるのは
税金であり、大人が働いて
収めているお金。
子供だからという理由だけで
お金を払わなくてよいという
メリットを受け続けると、
大人になってもその
メリットを忘れられず、
不当な要求をする大人に
なるかもしれない。
理由②はかなり
振り切った感じで
つくりました。多少、
極端気味に書いた方が
具体性が出てよいかも
しれません。
英文はこう書いてみました。
I don't think the Japanese
government should provide
free lunch for all stuents in
Japanese public elementary
and secondary schools.
I have two reasons. One
is that eating school lunch
is a good opportunity to
understand how stuents'
life is managed by many
different adults in community.
Before students eat lunch,
so many people are involved
in making school lunch.
Some adults think about
students' health and decide
the menu. Others produce
meat and vegetables and
distribute foods to the kitchen.
Some cook various dishes.
Others deliver finished meals
to school. These people work
almost every day. These
people are paid. It is quite
natural to pay to them in
order to understand and
appreciate them. If all of
students in Japanese elementary
and secondary school eat free
lunch, they will lose an important
opportunity to know what is
done by adults around for the
sake of students. Second,
getting free lunch can give
children a wrong message.
It is wrong to believe that
everything that children
use should be free, for
the money used for school
lunch is the tax, which adults
pay by working hard. If children
continue to receive an advantage
of not paying their own
money just because they are
still young, then when they
become adults, they will not forget
the advantage and probably
they can become the adults
who will make an unreasonable
request by refusing to pay
their own money for
what they want.
