【2024九州大学】少子化がもたらすメリット

今回は2024年度入試　

九州大学を扱います。

少子化が日本社会にもたらす

よい変化を２つ、それぞれが

どんな影響を日本社会や

日常生活に与えるかと共に、

100語程度の英文で

書きなさい

という指示です。

自由英作文といえば、

10年ほど前は

「手紙と電子メール、

どっちがいいですか」とか

「あなたの好きな季節を

理由と共に述べなさい」とか、

なんともユル～イテーマが

よく出されていましたが、

昨今は受験生にもしっかり

社会参加意識というか、

問題意識を持たせるように

していますね。

とてもよい傾向だと思います。

受験生やその周囲の

大人たちには、こう言いたい。

大学に行って○○を勉強したい、

だけではなくて、

その先を考えてほしい。

資格をとりたい、

○○になりたい、

だけではなくて、

社会でどう生きていくかを

考えてほしい。

話がそれましたが、

今回書いてみた英文が

以下のとおりです。

少子化のメリットとして

挙げたのはこれです。

①学校では一クラスあたりの

生徒数が減り、

教員にとっても生徒にとっても

集中しやすい環境になる。

②人口が減るとエネルギー

消費も減少するので、

環境への負荷が軽くなる。

One positive effect is that

schools will become better

places for students. 

When the population of

Japan gets smaller, the

number of students in one

class will be smaller. 

Along with advance in

information technology,

teachers feel easier

in managing their

students.  Schools with

fewer students will be

places for students to

concentrate on studying. 

The other positive effect

is that the impact on

the natural environment

will be smaller.  When the

population of Japan gets

smaller, people will need

less energy.  For instance,

with the Internet and e-mails

more popular, people have

used less paper, which

can lead to avoiding deforestation.  

【2023東京農工】講義が英語で行われたら

今回は2023年東京農工大学です。

お題は、

「国立大学の授業のうち

少なくとも半分以上の授業を

英語で行うことについて、

賛成か反対か」を問うものです。

語数は50～60語、理由を２つ書く

必要があります。

こんな少ない語数で、

理由を２つ書くのは、

かえって難しい気がします。

教育的観点から、

「賛成」で書いてみました。

・・・「反対」で書くと、

ネガティブな理由しか

浮かばないような気がします。

I agree with teaching

lectures in nationalized

universities in English. 

University students should

be fluently in English

enough to understand and

participate in classes, which

will show how hard students

have studied and help them

in job hunting.  Moreover,

using English in learning

can also make it easier

for students to go abroad

and be international

researchers in the future.

【2023京都府立医科大学】テクノロジーがもたらす問題とその解決策

京都府立医科大学での出題です。

「テクノロジーが人間に与えるデメリットを２つ、それぞれの解決策とともに２００語程度の英文で述べよ」という指示です。

医学科なのでまずは・・・

①病気治療や診断、手術で遠隔治療や遠隔診断がなされることが増えている。技術が正確で信頼できるいっぽう、冷たい印象をうけて不安を覚える患者もいるかもしれない。

：

これに対して解決策になりそうなのは、

医療従事者が、より丁寧に患者やその家族とコミュニケーションをとって精神的なケアをすることが重要になる。医療従事者は人間らしさや思いやりをいっそう重要視しなければならないだろう。

二つめは思いつきやすいところで

②情報工学が発展することで社会の多くの仕事が容易になったが、いっぽうで詐欺や違法取引の件数も増えた。多額のお金を失う人も少なくない。個人情報の漏洩事件も多い。

解決策としては、

人々はインターネット上のやりとりについてより注意深くなるべき。今後、生まれたときからデジタル環境になじんできた世代が増えてくるが、あまりにも当たり前のように使っていて注意力が欠けることのないよう、情報の重要性を理解しだまされないようにふるまうことが求められる。

以下のように書いてみました。

     First, one of the disadvantages technology has brought to humans is a clinical one.  These days in hospitals remote operations and diagnosis are conducted more often than before.  While these technological applications are reliable, some patients will think of treatment by technological devices as cold, and feel worried.  As a resolution to this problem, medical workers will have to communicate with patients and their families more carefully to further mental care.  Medical workers also will have to think more of humanity as well as consideration.  The second of the disadvantages technology has had is how to avoid illegal transactions online.  As information technology has developed, more of social tasks have been easier to do.  At the same time, the number of deception and leakage of personal information cases has also been increasing.  As a result, not a few people have lost much money.  In order to avoid being deceived, the Internet users should be more careful.  Recently, the generations who have been familiar to digital environments have emerged.  Those who take the Internet for so granted are more likely to be involved in cyber crime.  All of the Internet users will be requested to behave much more cautiously not to be deceived.   

【2023熊本大学】女性議員を増やすために

今回は2023年熊本大学にて

出題された自由英作文です。

According to data issued in May, 2022,

by the Japanese Gender Equality

Bureau of the Cabinet Office,

the percentage of female members

in the House of Representatives is

9.9% and ranks 166th among 190

countries.  How can the situation be

improved?  Explain your ideas in English.

と指示されています。

語数は80語までとあるので、

あまり欲張って盛り込みすぎないように

しましょう。

書く内容としてはこう考えました。

女性の政治進出・参加を促す。

→政治を自分ごととして考える。

他人（男性）に任せきりにしない。

→特定の父子が政治家を世襲する

ことが多い。政治家になること・

政治家であることが目的になっている。

→女性議員の比率を上げることが

目的になってはいけない。

社会を構成する人として、多様な

意見を出すことが健全なあり方だ。

サラリと書きましたが、

これ全部書こうと思うと

150語くらいの英文になりそうです。

本当に薄口な答案になりました。

でも入試当日も、これくらいで十分だと

思います。内容にこだわりすぎず、

自然な展開とミスのない英文を

作ることを目指してください。

合格答案とはそういうものだと思います。

それでは以下をご覧ください。

It is necessary for women to be

willing to take part in politics

in order to improve the current

situation.  More women should

be aggressively involved in

decision-making for a better future. 

Don't leave politics to only men

just because many sons have

become politicians after their

fathers retired.  A mature society

is the one where women can

express freely their various

【2023電気通信大学】給食を無料にすべきかどうか

給食業者の業務停止が

各地で問題になっています。

子が学校にいく年齢になると

給食の存在がありがたい。。。

食べる子ども側には、

多少なりとも不満が

あるかもしれませんが、

給食のありがたみは、

大人になると実感する

ことの一つなのでしょう。

今回は電気通信大学

2023年度入試で出題された

お題で書いてみます。

問題文は以下の通り。

In some countries,

all students in elementary

and secondary schools

receive free lunch on

school days.  In your

opinion, should the Japanese

government provide free

lunch for all students in

Japanese public elementary

and secondary school?  

「日本の小中学校の

給食は無料にすべきか

どうか」

・・・給食はありがたいですが、

ここは無料化に反対で

書いてみたいと思います！

電気通信大学の指示には

「少なくとも二つの

理由を挙げて」とあります。

理由①

給食は、自分たちの生活が

社会のなかでどうやって

運営されているかを知る

よい機会だ。給食には

多くの人がかかわっている。

その人たちの仕事を

評価し感謝するため、

そのお金を払うことは

おかしいことではない。

理由②

子どもたちの考え方に

よい影響を与えない可能性がある。

子どもに関するものは

すべて無料であるべき

といった考えを支えるのは

税金であり、大人が働いて

収めているお金。

子供だからという理由だけで

お金を払わなくてよいという

メリットを受け続けると、

大人になってもその

メリットを忘れられず、

不当な要求をする大人に

なるかもしれない。

理由②はかなり

振り切った感じで

つくりました。多少、

極端気味に書いた方が

具体性が出てよいかも

しれません。

英文はこう書いてみました。

   I don't think the Japanese

government should provide

free lunch for all stuents in

Japanese public elementary

and secondary schools. 

I have two reasons.  One

is that eating school lunch

is a good opportunity to

understand how stuents'

life is managed by many

different adults in community. 

Before students eat lunch,

so many people are involved

in making school lunch. 

Some adults think about

students' health and decide

the menu.  Others produce

meat and vegetables and

distribute foods to the kitchen. 

Some cook various dishes. 

Others deliver finished meals

to school.  These people work

almost every day.  These

people are paid.  It is quite

natural to pay to them in

order to understand and

appreciate them.  If all of

students in Japanese elementary

and secondary school eat free

lunch, they will lose an important

opportunity to know what is

done by adults around for the

sake of students.  Second,

getting free lunch can give

children a wrong message. 

It is wrong to believe that

everything that children

use should be free, for

the money used for school

lunch is the tax, which adults

pay by working hard.  If children

continue to receive an advantage

of not paying their own

money just because they are

still young, then when they

become adults, they will not forget

the advantage and probably

they can become the adults

who will make an unreasonable

request by refusing to pay

their own money for

what they want.
